The Village of Coal City’s Police Department is looking to add a Records Clerk/Administrative Assistant to its administrative staff. The position is open until filled; however, first review of applications will begin on March 27, 2025. Please come into Village Hall and complete an employment application, which is also available for download at www.coalcity-il.gov.  Completed applications must be submitted at Village Hall for consideration. Prior to hiring, applicants can expect a mandatory drug test.  Applicants must minimally have acquired a high school diploma or equivalent with vocational or technical training within secretarial or related field.  The successful candidate will be proficient at utilizing the village’s software and computer technology and be focused upon serving our residents.  Tasks include a variety of specialized administrative support services for the Police Chief, which encompass a variety of tasks to include assisting the Police Chief and other executive staff with the creation, tracking, and filing of essential programs, files and documents.  In addition, this position shall be responsible for tasks to include the Police Department’s compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA Officer), other police records requirements and assisting with scheduling and other related departmental events.  This work is conducted at the Police Department on demand as residents need services in person or on the phone.  Must reside within 20-mile radius of Coal City as defined within Section 30.3 of the municipal code.  This position is budgeted at $24.50/hr. and is expected to begin as soon as April 14, 2025.
