Chief Harseim

Hello, I am Coal City Police Chief Christopher R. Harseim. On behalf of the men and women of the Coal City Police Department, welcome to our website. Our goal is to provide you with timely and relevant information about current events happening in our community, the services we provide, and ultimately give you an understanding of who we are. We want you to visit our site often, and I welcome your feedback regarding your concerns, interests and suggestions on this website.

Our police officers are an essential part of our community and their presence whether on patrol or working in specialized assignments such as our school resource officer program, are aimed at ensuring a safe and peaceful community. So when you see our officers out and about in the community, remember that the officers are there responding to people in need, ensuring public safety, participating in community events and enforcing the law. Ultimately, our success depends on a strong partnership with the community we serve. All of our efforts are aimed at making Coal City a safer place for all of us to live, work and visit.

The Coal City Police Department consists of 13 full time sworn officers, 4 part time sworn officers and an administrative assistant serving approximately 5,700 citizens. Various assignments within the department include; school resource officer, elderly service officer, evidence technician, and investigations.

The police department lobby hours are 8:00 am. To 4:30 pm. Monday through Friday. Our office is located at 545 S. Broadway St.  Our office number is 815-634-8533.
